Weekly Gathering Structure

Our Wednesday night gatherings will last about an hour and a half, from 6:30 to 8:00 PM. The time will be structured in 30-minute increments:
  • 30 minutes for arrival, fellowship, and reading
  • 30 minutes for teaching
  • 30 minutes for table discussion and announcements

Reading Time

Whatever day we’re on in the reading plan when we gather, we’ll read that day’s passage aloud in the group. Anyone can volunteer to read one chapter, and another person will read that day’s entry from the Step Into Scripture book. Even if you've fallen behind, you’re encouraged to pick up where we are that day and continue.

Teaching Time

Our teaching team will lead a lesson based on that week’s reading. This lesson acts as an additional devotional beyond the book, modeling that we’re never done learning the Bible. Each reading offers new insights, and the book is just one part of the journey.

Table Discussion Time

During each weekly gathering, you'll be provided with a brief overview of the Wednesday lesson and discussion questions. You’ll then join a group to reflect on and respond to the lesson together.

Table Host Discussion Guide

Week 6: The Mission Continues

This week’s reading brought us to the end of the book of Acts, tracing Paul’s journey from Caesarea to Rome through trials, storms, shipwreck, and imprisonment. We saw Paul stand before governors, kings, and ultimately appeal to Caesar, using every opportunity and every level of influence to bear witness to Christ. We also saw that God’s promise carried Paul through every obstacle, that the gospel took root even in unlikely places like Crete and Malta, and that some people responded to the truth while others resisted it. Acts closes not with Paul’s death, but with Paul still preaching the kingdom of God with boldness and without hindrance, reminding us that while the book ends, the mission does not. The same gospel that reached Caesar’s household must now continue through us as we serve, give, disciple, and engage fully in the mission of Jesus.

Discussion Questions

  1. What does Paul’s appeal to Caesar teach us about God’s sovereignty and our responsibility?

Application: Are there opportunities, resources, rights, or platforms God has given you that you could use more intentionally for His mission instead of only for your own comfort or protection?

  2. What do Acts 27 and 28 teach us about perseverance in the mission of God?

Application: What storm, delay, or disappointment in your life has tempted you to step back from obedience? What would it look like to stay on mission in the middle of that difficulty instead of waiting for ideal conditions?

  3. Why is it important that Paul kept preaching in Rome even while under guard?

Application: Do you ever assume that certain limitations in your life disqualify you from meaningful ministry? Where might God be calling you to keep teaching, encouraging, or witnessing right where you are?

  4. What does Acts 28 teach us about why some people believe and others do not?

Application: How does this truth help you when people reject the gospel or seem unmoved by spiritual things? Does it challenge you to focus more on faithfulness in witness than on controlling results?

  5. How does the ending of Acts place responsibility on the church today?

Application: What does “The Mission Continues” require of you personally right now? Is your next step greater engagement in serving, generosity, discipleship, evangelism, or all of the above?
